Pistol 101

Pistol 101

I wanted to design a class where you can come in with little to no knowledge about pistols and leave knowing how to safely operate and effectively defend yourself. I also wanted the class to work for those who are familiar with pistols but want to learn more about how to correctly run them in a defensive manner. This class does it all.

This class will cover the basics of a common semi automatic pistol and defensive techniques. We will cover the following topics.

  • Safely functioning your pistol
  • Marksmanship
  • Drawing from the holster
  • Situational awareness
  • Introduce you to shooting and moving
  • Introduce you to cover and concealment

What to bring to the range

It is outdoors so dress for the weather, we will shoot rain, snow, or shine (no lightning). The recommended equipment is listed below.

  • Hat with a brim
  • Long pants
  • No open shirts (brass has a tendency to fall down openings in shirts)
  • A pistol that you could realistically conceal and carry
  • A holster that attaches to your belt, that is designed for your specific firearm, and that covers the trigger with kydex. One size fits all soft holsters are not permitted.
  • A sturdy belt
  • Hearing protection
  • Eye protection
